Blackfish Island  **SOLD**

387 Acres
St. Frances County, Arkansas

Blackfish Island is part of an approximately 3,000 acre "island" of land encircled by Blackfish Bayou and the St. Francis River. In the most remote part of this "island", near the joining of these two major bodies of water, lies the 387 acre Blackfish Island. Though only 35 minutes from downtown Memphis, Blackfish Island is nearly 4 miles from a paved road, providing a remoteness rarely found. Over the years, Blackfish Island has proven to be a consistent provider of quality duck, deer, goose, turkey, and dove hunting. Both the flooded timber and the fields have provided consistent duck hunting, and record-class bucks have been killed in the past two years. A sunflower field next to the lodge provided several good dove hunts this Fall. In years to come, we expect the lake to provide good fishing opportunities as well. Wild quail are abundant throughout the property. A six bedroom, six bath lodge has just been completed which also contains a gourmet kitchen, paneled great room, two stone fireplaces, a mudroom, 2 car garage, and a screened in porch. The lodge combines with hunting, fishing, and other outdoor opportunities to make Blackfish Island a true year-round recreational experience for family, friends, and business activities. Blackfish Island is currently enrolled in conservation programs which focus on the enhancement and management of wildlife habitat, particularly for waterfowl and deer. A 28 acre, mile long lake has just been expanded next to the lodge, and over 100 additional acres of additional wetland habitat have been developed and managed. This winter hardwood timber is being planted on over 200 acres. An underground pipe system has been installed from the well which provides the flooding of 10 separated duck hunting holes (two in the woods) as well as the lake. Several prominent duck clubs (including Mud Lake) are in the immediate vicinity of Blackfish Island.
